A Quick Intro

Escape Key...don't fail me now!!
Since I've been fiddling around with this blog for several weeks now and it's high time to get it off the ground... Hiya! My name is Nia, and I'm a proud grammar nerd. We are an endangered species, slowly dying out due to habitat loss and the increasing prevalence of text speak. So I've created myself a little safe haven here in the blogosphere.

Why should I give a damn, you ask? I have no idea. But if you enjoy watching an otherwise rational human being get foam-at-the-mouth furious over little things like spelling and punctuation, you've come to the right place. If you know the difference between there, they're, and their, you may consider this a second home. And if you're a writer looking to improve your craft, I'll occasionally take a deep breath, cool my jets, and post a piece of useful advice on the ins and outs of proper usage, good sentence construction, and other timely topics. Also, if you're a writer looking for the services of a PROFESSIONAL angry editor, check out those page links in the sidebar.

So pull up a chair, consider this a lifetime spew-alert (consume beverages while reading at your own risk,) and join the fun. I'll surely be posting my first rant shortly, as the Internet provides a daily comedy of errors ripe for the plucking.

Since I'm a fellow grammar/spelling Nazi, I sympathise totally! (And yes, sympathise is spelled correctly if you happen to live in Australia or the UK!) But being a transplanted American, I've learned to spell American AND British English, and have a tendency to switch back and forth between the two sometimes...

The inconsistencies of Aus/Brit English still confound me sometimes, though. Like why is it offence/defence, but still offensive/defensive? Makes absolutely no sense to me, but hey, THEIR version has supposedly been around a lot longer than ours...
